DICKSON HAIRSHOP.

I met Jessica several weeks back while she was passing by our office – she mentioned that her husband, Severin, was always checking our stuff out through our windows on the way to work. She handed us his business card and told us to stop by and say hello to him sometime.

Sev owns a barbershop – Dickson Hairshop – on Allen Street, just a block away from our office. Although I got the chance to stop by and chat with him a few times in the past few months, I hadn’t found the time to get a cut there until just last week.

Dickson Hairshop is a men’s barbershop through and through. As you settle into your chair, you’re offered a shot of whiskey:

Intimate spots like this (they only cut two at a time) are what make our neighborhood so unique and special.

My haircut isn’t complex by any means but every time I’ve stopped by the place has a significant wait time – so they definitely know what they’re doing. And even though the shop is very masculine, I’ve seen women going in to get haircuts regularly. Another great thing about the shop is their very own line of hair and grooming products (something extremely rare for a shop of this size):

As I left, Sev graciously hooked me up with one of their candles for us to use in the office. Much appreciated!
