FORM.

This is Megan.

She’s an architecture student at Columbia whose assignment was to create a game that created form through user interaction -  rubber bands were her medium. She conducted her exercise on Allen Street’s middle walkway which is right outside our office. We peered at the project through our front doors all morning and I finally decided to go check out what it was all about. Anyone who wants to contribute gets to draw four cards from a deck:

The cards give the participant instructions on what actions to perform. One can loop rubber bands together to create long strands, tie two or more existing strands together, or cut any single strand. Megan started off with a pattern she made out of hundreds of rubber bands, while using the fence as a sort of loom:

As you can see, once random human interaction is introduced, the form begins to change.
