Throwing Fits "Big Jean."

Three years after our first project together, we are proud to partner once again with James Harris and Lawrence Schlossman, co-hosts of the fashion and lifestyle podcast Throwing Fits, to produce a brand new jean. In 2021, we linked with TF to make the perfect summer pants: a lightweight two-tone cream cinch bottom fatigue. We celebrated the release with a raucous sidewalk party on Elizabeth Street in June - our first in store event since the pandemic hit and a welcome respite from everything that we were going through up until that point. In that time, Lawrence and James have continued building upon their already-strong media empire, pulling incredible weekly guests that run the gamut from fashion to art and music (their recent episode with Benny the Butcher was especially fun). But to limit the duo's work to podcast hosts is to overlook the bevy of fashion collaborations they've worked on and the strong community they've built online. From their private Discord server - where listeners gather daily to talk about everything and nothing - to their Reddit community and their Instagram comments section, TF has brought together a bevy of likeminded fashion enthusiasts who love their hot takes and also love to get a fit off.

Another thing we - and TF listeners - love about James and Lawrence are their prescient takes on what's next in fashion. No one bats a thousand but what's charming about the duo is the fact that they're not afraid to try new things and shout out what they love well before it makes its way into the zeitgeist. When sitting down in mid-2023 to discuss what our next project should be, we led the charge in insisting upon making a pair of jeans. They had the vision on the fit and details. The end result is the "Big Jean," a brand new cut designed just for this collaboration.

Drawing inspiration from baggy '90s era jeans, we started with a high rise (the highest we've ever made) that allow you to wear the jeans high on the waist as Lawrence styled out, or low slung and stacked on your shoes as James does. The jeans have a curved back yoke and an extremely roomy top block. The leg has a slight taper from the knee down to allow the jean to stack on your footwear. This is the biggest, most relaxed cut that we've ever produced and thus aptly deserves the title that we've given it.

The jean is crafted of our custom 12oz double black selvedge denim from Kuroki Mills that's woven exclusively for us. The wash differs slightly from our standard black stonewash in that it's given a more aggressive treatment, bringing out more of the slub of the denim and a lighter gray cast especially on the pockets and seams. For a little pop, we added a custom faux turquoise top shank button and a custom black hair-on-hide patch.

The Throwing Fits for 3sixteen "Big Jean" launches exclusively on 3sixteen.com on Thursday, February 29th at noon ET and retails for $285. As an added bonus - on this jean only - we'll be offering original hems on the jeans free of charge so that you can preserve the roping on the hem should you wish to shorten them slightly. Because we feel so strongly about seeing and experiencing the jeans in person, we've reserved some pairs for in store purchase at our NY & LA flagship stores starting on Wednesday, February 28th (no phone orders, sorry). Both in store and online quantities are limited and we anticipate they'll go quickly.

For those of you who are local to NYC, we are going to be hosting an in-person celebration at our 190 Elizabeth Street flagship store on Wednesday, February 28th from 6-8pm. Come by, have a drink with Lawrence and James, and behold the only jean that matters.
